Kick Off Fall With Free, Intro Swing Dance Class

Dance Lessons

Goodbye to summer sun, high A/C bills and beach body envy. Hello to crisp air, pumpkin everything and cozy cover-ups. The start of a new season brings on fresh possibilities, and at Arthur Murray Royal Oak, we like to kick off fall with a little swinging action.

Join on us on Wednesday, September 26 at 8:15 p.m. for a free, beginner level swing dance class. Our talented instructors will teach East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing and the oh-so-fun Lindy Hop. Derived from the 1920s, the swing dances are upbeat, fast-paced and even a little contagious! To get a taste of the energy these styles bring, check out our instructor Oz and student Lynn in this video.

A twist on our Guest Night, our Swing Night is designed for newbies but is also a great place for experienced dancers to perfect their moves. The instructors will demonstrate the basics of each style in easy-to-follow steps for an exciting evening of partner dancing. We ask current students to bring an interested guest and welcome newcomers to come alone. At no cost to you, you can get a feel for how uplifting the swing can be!

If you’re still not sure whether or not this event is for you, take this quiz. If 3 or more describe you, there’s no doubt that you belong on our dance floor.

  1. I am not a robot.

  1. I am a human.

  1. I am too nervous to try something new.

  1. I have always wanted to try something new.

  1. I won’t know anyone at the studio.

Also, keep an eye on our calendar for upcoming Parties (also known as “practice parties” or “practice sessions”). Parties are open times for dancers of all levels to come to the studio to practice their skills. They provide guided time with qualified instructors, simulating a real social dancing experience. We hope to see you soon.
